"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain" Dolly Parton

There have been a lot of high profile break ups in the media recently. Christina Aguilera and her husband, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, to name but a few. While I've been poring over magazine articles(my guilty pleasure), I began to see a pattern.

Both hugely successful women, both with men less successful than them. Aguilera repeatedly gushed in magazine interviews about how perfect her marriage was, their regular date nights, not to mention hints at what went on in the bedroom. Seems kind of bittersweet now, the lady did protest too much.

In the main article I perused, it was suggested that Aguilera resented her ex-husband as she felt her commitement to her marriage had eclipsed her career. Her latest album receiving a lukewarm reception was something she attributed to this.

Courtney Cox's relationship has received as much press coverage as her acting career in recent months. The loose tongued comments from her former husband since their split certainly made me glad for her that she is free from such an insensitive soul.

But what does all of this mean? Can women not have it all after all? You can have the career but not the perfect relationship too, is what the trash mags insinuate.

I sure as hell hope they're wrong. I have no regrets in my life, although some parts of it have involved pain and unhappiness, I like to think I'm a mostly positive person, who rides the storm of anything life throws at her. But getting through the bad times makes the good times all the more worth it.

As winter sets in, I'm well aware it's a time of year when it's harder to get up in the dark mornings, harder to force yourself outside into the cold on frosty days. But if you look into the distance, look hard, sunshine's shining through...

  1. I hope it is wrong too. I would love a successful partner.....ah house husband here I come! I have found from personal experience that sometimes if one person is successful the other party can find it hard but think it is sad that things come down to who brings in the most in a relationship!

Katy you certainly seem a very positive person and your right the light after the dark is so much brighter!
